GENERAL

What kind of products does NLC Test Prep sell to help me pass the Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) / Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) Exam?

NLC Test Prep sells three products that will help you PASS on the first try: the FS Exam Online Course, the FS Practice Exam Book, and a Pre-Programmed HP35s calculator. We make continuing education easy. Between your work experience and our exam preparation, you’re ready for success!

Is your course material up-to-date?

Yes. The course material is continuously updated throughout the year along with major overhauls every ~2 years and when NCEES makes significant changes to the exam.

I need a Certificate of Completion to be reimbursed by my employer. Do you offer such a thing?

Yes, you will receive a Certificate of Completion after passing the afternoon exam with a 70% or higher. For additional information, please contact an NLC Prep team member today.

How long do I get access to the course material?

Every student WHO BUYS A COMBO OR YEARLY SERVICE receives access for 12 months. A monthly subscription may be purchased if needed after the 12 month period.

Do you recommend any other resources in addition to this online course in order to pass this exam?

The tested categories of the Fundamentals of Surveying exam are explained in the “Exam Specifications” PDF on the NCEES website. Can I ask questions or make comments as I go through these modules?

Absolutely, every content page has a comment box at the bottom. Posting a message will alert NLC Prep, which are answered weekly by emailing support@nlcprep.com.

I keep hearing about this phase “CBT” but I’m not sure what that means. Can you please explain it to me?

As of July 1, 2017, the FS exam was updated to not only be a Computer-Based Test (CBT), but it also now contains different question types than the usual multiple-choice-with-one-correct answer format. To learn more about this new format, please visit http://ncees.org/exams/cbt/

How can I keep in-touch with you as I progress through the study materials?

Facebook, Instagram,  and LinkedIn get updated often. You can also send us questions via these social media platforms. For a more private message, please e-mail NLC Prep at support@cnlcprep.com or simply leave a comment on the lesson you are on.

If I don’t like what I purchase, can I get a refund?

Yes, we offer a no-questions-asked refund policy up to 14 days from the purchase date for your test prep materials, including hard copy materials, and 3 business days for calculators. Within 24 hours applies to the initial purchase of subscriptions.

Items must be returned in their original condition. Online course users may not have taken the final exam, books must be clean and un-written in, and calculators must be in original working condition with all original programs still installed and functional.   Please see Terms & Service page for more information.

I’m not quite ready to purchase the bundle, but I would like some practice answering FS questions. Are there any free resources out there?

Absolutely. Head to NLC’s YouTube page for dozens of answered-and-explained FS questions.

FUNDAMENTALS OF SURVEYING

How much does the FS test prep course cost?

The FS Test Prep Course can be found at nlcprep.com/fundamentals-of-surveying. You also receive a free online practice exam with the course.

What is the difference between the Fundamentals of Surveying exam and the Surveyor-in-Training exam?

There is no such thing as a Surveyor-in-Training exam, only a Surveyor-in-Training license issued by each individual state. For people wanting to become Surveyor-in-Training licensed, they must meet the minimum state requirements, including taking the Fundamentals of Surveying exam in all 50 states.

How do I know that your courses cover all the subjects tested on the FS exam?

The tested categories of the Fundamentals of Surveying exam are explained in the “Exam Specifications” PDF on the NCEES website. What exam does this test prep bundle cover?

The PS Test Prep bundle prepares students for the Principles and Practice of Land Surveying exam.

What is the difference between the Principles and Practice of Land Surveying exam and the Professional Land Surveyor exam?

They are the same exam. The correct name is the Principles and Practice of Land Surveying, but some people refer to it as the Professional Land Surveyor exam.

Is the PS exam the only test I need to take to become a land surveyor?

No. The requirements to become a Professional Land Surveyor differ in every state, but licensing usually requires at least three exams: The FS, the PS and a state-specific laws/ethics exam.

HP35 Calculator

How much does the NLC HP35 Calculator cost?

The calculator can be found at https://nlcprep.com/product/pre-programmed-hp35s-calculator/. Each calculator must be programmed manually – by hand – for every student. Plus, the program manual and online course takes a lot of time to create and update.

How do I know that the NLC HP35 will help me pass my exam?

Our programs cover almost every mathematical computation that’s asked on the FS, PS, and many of the state-specific surveying exams. From COGO to triangles, intersections to bearing/azimuth conversion, we’ve got you covered.

Full-Length Practice Exams

How much does each full-length practice exam cost?

Each full-length surveyor practice exam can be found at nlcprep.com/shop-nlc-prep.

When were the Surveyor Exam Books last updated?

Each Surveyor Practice Exam hard-copy book was last updated the PS in January 2023. Since then, we have updated the FS was just revised in July 2023. We update the FS, PS, books each year based on student feedback.

How do I know that the Full-Length Surveyor Practice Exam will help me pass my test?

Our books are only written after Dr. Tony Nettleman takes the exam himself. Then, after consultation with other surveyors, the NLC Team writes an exam book that mirrors the actual exam.

How does your course material relate to the CST (Certified Survey Technician) exams?

Although the courses we offer may overlap in some of the areas, our courses are designed to help the student pass the FS/PS or State-Specific Exams. You will see comparable questions, but we cannot guarantee it will properly prepare you for any of the CST exams.

How much does a subscription cost?

Does the Subscription Unlock the Full Course?

Yes! The subscription unlocks the entire FS or PS course.

How do I Cancel a subscription?

  1. Before your renewal date,  in the student dashboard select the “My Account” tab on the left hand side.
  2. Select “My Subscription”
  3. Under your subscription select “View” you may cancel or resubscribe from this window.

Does my subscription Auto Renew?

Yes, subscriptions auto renew every month. If you do not wish for the subscription to auto renew, you must cancel the subscription before your renewal date.

You have 24 hours after the initial purchase date to cancel and receive a full refund. After this time, no refunds will be given. Subscriptions must be canceled before their renewal date or you will be charged.
